With the new acquisition of Mojin Robotics, SCIO Automation broadens its product offering in the field of automated material handling and storage systems for industrial and clean room environments. Customers with high demands in intralogistics can now find autonomous solutions from one source. "We are pleased that Mojin Robotics is now part of the SCIO Group", says Michael Goepfarth, CEO of SCIO Automation, after the acquisition. Schiller Automatisierungstechnik GmbH, as a manufacturer of autonomous vehicles, can now benefit from internal solutions for complex robotics from Mojin.
With the integration of Industrial Automation LLC, the SCIO Automation Group has established a foothold in North America just one and a half years after the foundation of the group. The main competence of Industrial Automation lies in automation solutions tailored to each customer's needs. "This is a milestone in the internationalisation strategy we have been pursuing from the very beginning," said Michael Goepfarth, CEO of SCIO. The SCIO Automation Group is now represented in North America, Asia and Europe. Industrial Automation enriches SCIO's portfolio with a variety of automation solutions of smaller robot cells up to complete production lines.
The wecare Group, a new operator platform in the attractive German care market, continues its growth path: As part of a corporate succession, the share purchase agreement for Haus Thiele GmbH, Radevormwald, was signed today. Haus Thiele is a long-established care facility (80 beds) with an excellent reputation. It will form a strong local partnership with the wecare facility "Seniorenhaus Radevormwald" in the future. The wecare group currently has 14 facilities.
Parallel to the acquisition of the facility, the property was sold to a real estate partner of the wecare Group.
wecare Group, the new operator platform in the attractive German care market continues its growth strategy: the initially acquired six facilities of the Medical Senioren-Park Group and the simultaneously acquired six facilities of the Convivo Group are now joined by the Seniorenresidenz Eidelstedt in Hamburg. The very attractive and well managed facility (78 places) was taken over from private owners. The wecare group now operates 13 facilities. The wecare Group was initiated with the support of the Quadriga Capital Funds in February 2020.
GBA Group is strengthening its expertise in food analysis by acquiring Technische Lebensmittel- und Umweltanalytik GmbH (TeLA). The specialist laboratory offers chemical analyses in the fields of fish, fruit and vegetable, tea and spices, food supplements and dairy products. The acquisition broadens GBA's analytical portfolio and expands its regional presence in north-west Germany.
GBA Group is strengthening its European network in the food sector. With the acquisition of Lavetan NV, the leading food laboratory in Belgium, the group is continuing its effort to provide customers with expertise and high service levels across borders. The location of Lavetan's Turnhout site near the transhipment ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam provides GBA with access to the strategically important markets in Belgium and the Netherlands.
With the support of the Quadriga Capital funds, the Medical Senioren-Park Group has found a successful succession solution for its six inpatient locations. In addition, six nursing care facilities from the Convivo Group have been taken over. The company’s founders Rita and Tadeusz Cymerman will remain closely associated with the company and will focus on real estate development.
GBA Group is extending its regional presence in southern Germany by acquiring the service laboratory Görtler Analytical Services GmbH in Vaterstetten near Munich. The acquisition is part of the Group's strategic objective of supplying environmental analytic services nationwide. Meanwhile, Görtler will benefit by expanding their service portfolio, particularly in the area of pollutants and contaminants (asbestos, dioxins and pesticides).
The GBA Group now includes IVARIO, the operator of an online platform for testing drinking water for end users (www.wassertest-online.de), as a member of its corporate family. With this acquisition, customers will benefit more directly from the expertise of the GBA laboratories going forward. In addition, the foundation has been laid for the further joint development of additional online testing services for private households in Germany and western Europe. The three IVARIO founders will remain on board: while Söhnke Mücke sets the course as Chief Executive, Saskia Gerber and Sascha Zielinski will assist GBA as advisers.
Effective July 30, 2019, tmp GmbH automation & engineering has joined the SCIO Automation family. The service provider for automation solutions based in Dinslaken develops complex software solutions for industrial use with a focus on commissioning. Among its customers are companies active in mechanical and plant engineering as well as in the manufacturing industry. Thereby SCIO, the automation platform founded at the beginning of 2019, is continuing its successful growth.
The AUTKOM group has joined SCIO Automation, as of 30 July 2019. The company, based in Ladenburg, Germany, specialises in the areas of automation and communication technology as well as functional safety. Its customers are mainly from the automotive, environmental technology and chemical industry. Therefore, the automation platform created by the merger of Vescon and Schiller now comprises three companies.
The automation platform created through the merger of Vescon and Schiller in January 2019 is now called SCIO Automation. SCIO Automation is a medium-sized business platform which includes several independently acting companies in the field of industrial automation technology as well as high-quality engineering and commissioning services. SCIO Automation will further strengthen the group with complementary acquisitions.

In the “Excellent Brands” competition, the jury selected the innovation in the “Beauty & Care” category as one of the best product brands in the industry. Good news from BURGERISTA: The premium burger chain was honoured for its brand appearance in 2019 for a second time in a row. This year, BURGERISTA even won twice: the brand experts awarded the fast food restaurants the prize for best brand in the category “Excellent Brands – Fast Moving Consumer Goods” while also winning in the higher level category of “Excellent Brands – Product Brand of the Year” as the best product brand 2019. The company currently operates eighteen of its own restaurants in Germany and Austria, while location number 19 in Vienna is the first restaurant to be operated by a franchisee.
Innovation readiness rewarded: HEDRICH was able to score at the Digital Champions Award 2019 with its smart production in the category “Digital Processes & Organisations”. Prior to this, the plant manufacturer from Ehringshausen near Giessen had already won in the local preliminary competition in the category “Digital Processes and Organisation”. The joint award from Telekom and WirtschaftsWoche set itself the goal to honour the most important projects from medium-sized companies and bring them to the attention of a wider public. HEDRICH accepted the prize at the DIGITAL X MIDWEST in Offenbach.
In January 2019, the anti-trust authorities approved the merger of the two groups Vescon and Schiller into a new holding. Funds advised by Quadriga Capital supported the merger as majority shareholders to continue the successful growth of the companies, to invest in staff and innovation and thereby to further strengthen the automation platform by means of complementary acquisitions. Michael Goepfarth will lead the automation platform as Managing Director.
With the takeover of ANALYTIKUM Umweltlabor GmbH in Merseburg, GBA is expanding its presence in the regions of Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony and has taken an important regional step on its way to offer environmental analysis throughout Germany. ANALYTIKUM is seen as one of the leading companies in the region for water and soil analysis.
